The success of a child's education depends upon the support and involvement of parents. Support can be as simple as reading to your child, listening to your child, and praising your child. Consider also the following opportunities that will help you become more involved.
The "Jumper" newsletter contains valuable information about various programs and special events at school. It also provides you with a monthly calendar showing scheduled events.
Most grade levels and some teachers issue weekly or monthly newsletters. This information offers specific details about your child's program.
Attend PTA board meetings, back-to-school nights, and participate in fund-raisers. Not only will you learn more about our school, but you can also establish positive relationships with other members of the school community.
Reliable volunteers are always needed at school and this gives you an opportunity to observe "Jarrettsville" in action. If your schedule does not permit you to volunteer during the day, ask the classroom teacher if s/he has any odd jobs that can be done at home. Sometimes, by simply asking, the most creative ideas can result.
Notes: writing a note to the teacher to share your concerns, student's successes, health issues or other important information is always helpful
Phone calls: while a teacher can rarely accept a phone call during instructional time, the office staff will take a message for you. The teacher will make every effort to return your call as soon as possible.
E-mail: while we do not have the staffing to read our website e-mail messages everyday, we try to get online at least once a week and will be pleased to respond to your ideas.
